The 7th edition of the BigMat International Architecture Award 2025 reaffirms its mission to recognize the most outstanding architectural works completed over the past years in the seven European countries where the BigMat brand is present.

This year’s edition once again highlights two main distinctions: the Grand Prize for Proximity Architecture (€30,000) and the BigMat Grand Prize for Architecture (€30,000), a recognition that has become a benchmark for contemporary architectural practice in Europe.
From almost 700 submissions, the final jury held in Madrid and composed of Oana Bogdan, Anne Lacaton, Francesca Torzo, José Neves, Martin Jančok, María Langarita, Jesús Aparicio as Award President and Jesús Donaire as Secretary — selected the projects that will now compete in Warsaw for the two Grand Prizes, as well as for the national awards of Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Portugal, Slovakia, and Spain.

THE BIGMAT INTERNATIONAL ARCHITECTURE AWARD
Founded in 1981, the BigMat Group was created to strengthen the distribution of building materials through close collaboration with local business owners. The Architecture Award was launched in Spain in 2005 and, after three successful editions, expanded internationally, quickly becoming one of the most respected European competitions.

BigMat International Architecture Award 2025 Jury Meeting in Madrid
Since its first international edition in 2013, the prize has celebrated excellence in contemporary architecture across the countries in which BigMat operates. Previous winners of the Grand Prize include: Xaveer de Geyter (2013 and 2021), Alberto Campo Baeza (2015), Lacaton & Vassal (2017), Eduardo Souto de Moura (2019), and last edition winners in 2023, Ramón Pico and F. Javier López -Estudio ACTA in the general category and Hugo Ferreira and Nuno Melo Sousa in the small-scale residential architecture.
