Inspired by the local fishing tradition of bateas, the winning project of TAC! Urban Architecture Festival for Vigo is part of the reflection proposed for this third edition: the regeneration of urban centers from a local, small-scale, and sustainable perspective.

The new library designed by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen, former member of the BigMat Award Jury, introduces an innovative concept, housed in a building with a gabled roof and enclosed by a circular perimeter.

At the crossroads of art, architecture and design, the environments proposed at the exhibition are three-dimensional and immersive works. They are activated thanks to the interaction of the audience and completed by human presence.

“Foodscapes, By eating, we digest territories”, curated by Eduardo Castillo-Vinuesa and Manuel Ocaña, explores the Spanish agro-architectural context, the food engine of Europe.

Comprising 13 project models and a panoramic view of the projects built and under study, the exhibition focuses on the work of the studio, founded in 1994, with offices in Paris and Vienna and a considerable track record of projects of the most varied types.

SAMI-arquitectos has been awarded the BigMat National Prize for Architecture in Portugal ’23 for their winery project located within the Unesco World Heritage vineyard landscape of Pico Island, one of the nine islands that form the mid-Atlantic, Azorean archipelago.
