María Langarita, Spanish Jury Member for the upcoming BigMat International Architecture Award 2025

Co-founder of Langarita-Navarro Arquitectos, María Langarita has garnered widespread recognition for her innovative and experimental approach to architecture. Her work balances bold creativity with sensitivity to the social and cultural dimensions of each project, redefining contemporary Spanish architecture.

María Langarita (1979), is an architect, architectural researcher and academic. She has a Ph.D. in Architecture from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid where she is a lecturer in Architectural Design. She founded along to Victor Navarro the Madrid based architecture firm Langarita Navarro at 2005. Their work has received recognitions such as the Special Mention of the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, FAD Architecture Award and the award from the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism in 2013 and 2022.

Additionally, their work forms part of the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou and has been featured in various publications as a monographic issue of 2G magazine.

Their career has also been honoured with the Young Architect of the Year 2014 award, and the AD Nuevos Valores 2013 award. Their work has appeared in various publications and has been chosen for the monograph of 2Gmagazine. Their work has been selected to be exhibited in different places and events, including the 6th Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism of Shenzhen 2015 and the XI Biennale di Venezia in 2014 and 2008.



They have been the directors of XII BEAU – Universidad Menended Pelayo summer course and they were selected to be Jurors for the Santo Domingo Biennal.
